For as long as I can remember fishing has been something that I’ve always loved. My father passed along this passion and love of fishing to me and it was a rare occasion that I didn’t have something fishing related going on or a fishing pole in my hand. As I got older and was able to drive, it opened up a whole new set of opportunities.
In San Diego, fishing the surf, bays, lakes and ocean were a part of my daily routine. I would make my own lures and fishing poles to adapt to the fish at each of the venues I was fishing. Quickly, I began to understand what different species of fish were drawn to and the type of lures and what would attract them. In my teens, I was fortunate enough to work as a deckhand on a Marlin boat. It was there that it became clear to me that there was a need for realism in baits.
It taught me respect, presentation and an appreciation for fish as a proud adversary.
